The Smart Charge Management (SCM) and the EV Time-of-Use (EV TOU) programs are two different programs that help EV drivers save money by charging during off-peak hours, but they work in different ways.
EV Time-of-Use (EV -TOU)
The EV TOU program is a special credit designed for EV drivers. While the rest of your home remains on a standard flat electricity rate, your EV charging can earn bill credits when you charge during off-peak hours, such as nights and weekends when electricity demand is lower. Your charging behavior determines whether you earn these credits. Learn more here: What is the Delmarva EV Time-of-Use (EV-TOU) Program?
Smart Charge Management (SCM)
Smart Charge Management is an automatic smart charging program powered by WeaveGrid. When you enroll in SCM, WeaveGrid actively manages your EV charging by creating an optimized charging schedule each time you plug in at home. The schedule is designed to prioritize charging during off-peak hours and times when electricity is most cost-effective.
Participants can receive up to $10 monthly for charging at least 60% of the time using WeaveGrid’s optimized schedule. Learn more here: How do I qualify for the Smart Charge Management monthly bill credit? When will I receive it?
Can I enroll in both programs?
Yes. Customers can enroll in both EV TOU and Smart Charge Management at the same time. When enrolled in SCM, WeaveGrid helps ensure your charging occurs during off-peak hours, which can make it easier to earn incentives through the EV TOU program while automating your charging experience. However, WeaveGrid will not manage your charging if you’re only enrolled in the EV TOU program.
How the programs work together
These programs can complement each other. When you enroll in Smart Charge Management, WeaveGrid schedules your charging during off-peak hours, which can help you meet the requirements to earn credits through the EV TOU Program. This allows you to maximize savings while ensuring your vehicle is ready when you need it.
